Teenage sex offender arrested in Northern Ireland goes missing

A teenage sex offender who was the subject of a cross-border manhunt before being jailed has gone missing after being freed, police said.

Ryan Humpage, 19, who was reportedly given an 18-month jail term in August for sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl, failed to return to a bail hostel on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said.

He was the subject of a Crimewatch appeal by Lancashire Police in April last year over fears he may have fled here at a time he was wanted on suspicion of rape. He was later arrested in County Antrim and returned to England.

On Sunday a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said Humpage had failed to return to Bradshaw House bail hostel in Bury.

The spokesman added: “He has links to the Bury area of Manchester, as well as Blackpool, Northampton, West Midlands, Ireland, Scotland, Preston and Northumberland.”
